Youssef spent five years in academia and hospitals, where he saw first hand how inefficient it is to get medicines to patients. Today, he is dedicated to changing that. During his PhD at UCL he established himself as a leader in AI-driven formulation, publishing more than 15 papers on machine learning tools for medicine development and automation. His work combines deep learning, generative models and optimisation algorithms with advanced manufacturing. Now he's using that expertise to build the pharmaceutical company of the future.

Hannah leverages expertise in machine learning and statistical model development to extract deep insights from real and complex datasets. She is motivated by novel methods that push the boundaries of what is possible today. She has authored four papers in Nature journals before finishing her PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), where her thesis in computational and quantitative biology was awarded the distinction as a top thesis in the country. At Elixir she designs the models and software that turn data into better medicines.
